Everything you need to know to get the most out of Away From.

Getting Started

Create your account and set up Away From in a few simple steps.

Create an Account
Head to the Sign Up page and register with your email address or a social provider (GitHub, Google). You will receive a verification email — click the link inside to activate your account before signing in.
Sign In
Go to the Sign In page and enter your credentials. If you registered with a social provider, use the matching button. Once authenticated you will land on the interactive map.
Verify your Email
Check your inbox for an email from Away From. Click the verification link to confirm your address. If you did not receive it, visit the verification page and request a new one.
Reset your Password
On the Sign In page, click "Forgot password?", enter your email address, and follow the link sent to your inbox to set a new password.

The Interactive Map

Explore the world and interact with saved places through a beautiful, real-time map.

Navigating the Map
Pan by clicking and dragging. Zoom with the scroll wheel or the +/− controls. The map adapts between a flat 2D view and an immersive 3D perspective depending on zoom level.
Searching for Locations
Use the search bar to find any address, landmark, or type of place (e.g. "coffee shop near me"). Results appear instantly as you type. Select a result to fly the map to that location.
Viewing Place Details
Click any saved marker on the map to open its detail panel, which shows the place name, category, notes, and which group it belongs to.

Places

Save, organise, and manage all your favourite spots.

Saving a Place
Search for a location or click anywhere on the map, then click "Save Place". Give it a name, choose a category, and optionally add notes. The place is immediately added to your personal collection.
Browsing your Places
Open Settings → Places to see the full list of your saved places. Filter by category or use the search field to find a specific spot quickly.
Editing a Place
In the Places list, click the edit icon next to any entry to update its name, category, or location. Changes are saved instantly.
Deleting a Place
Click the delete icon next to a place and confirm. Deleted places are removed permanently from your collection and from any groups they were shared with.
Categories
Places can be organised into categories (e.g. Restaurants, Hiking, Work). You can filter your places list or map view by category to focus on what matters at the moment.

Groups

Create private circles and share your favourite places with the right people.

Creating a Group
Open Settings → Members and click "New Group". Give it a name and optionally a description. You are automatically the owner of the group.
Inviting Members
Inside a group, click "Invite" and enter the email address of the person you want to add. They will receive an invitation link. Once accepted, they become members of the group and can see all places shared within it.
Managing Members
As a group owner or admin you can view all members, change their roles (Member / Admin), or remove them at any time from the Members settings page.
Sharing a Place with a Group
When saving or editing a place, select one or more groups to share it with. Shared places appear on the map for all group members immediately.
Leaving or Deleting a Group
Members can leave a group at any time from the Members settings page. Owners can delete the group entirely, which removes all shared places and member access.

Messaging

Communicate with your group members directly inside Away From.

Opening a Conversation
Navigate to the Messages page to see all your active group conversations. Click on a conversation to open the thread.
Sending a Message
Type your message in the input field at the bottom of a thread and press Enter or click Send. Messages are delivered in real time to all members in the conversation.
Invite and Permission Requests
The chat also surfaces system messages for group invite requests and permission changes, so you always have a record of membership activity within a group.

Settings

Personalise your profile, manage security, and control your account.

Profile
Go to Settings → Profile to update your display name, avatar, and other personal details. Changes are reflected immediately across the app.
Security
Visit Settings → Security to update your password or review active sessions. For accounts created with a social provider, password management is handled by that provider.
Members & Groups
Settings → Members is your hub for managing all groups you own or belong to, inviting new people, and adjusting member roles.
Places Management
Settings → Places gives you a bird's-eye view of every place you have saved, with filtering and search to help you keep things organised.

Privacy & Security

Away From is built with your privacy as a priority.

Who can see your places?
Places you save are private by default. They are only visible to you unless you explicitly share them with a group. Group members can only see places shared within their shared group.
Who can join your groups?
Groups are invite-only. No one can discover or join your group without a direct invitation from you or another group admin.
Data you share
Away From stores only the information you provide — your account details and the places you choose to save. No location tracking happens in the background.
Account Deletion
To permanently delete your account and all associated data, contact support. All your places, group memberships, and messages will be erased.
